From the comfort of your own home, in an office, or in a large gym with a variety of equipment, being able to mix things up will allow for diversity in your treatment, because no one is the same and there is no "one size fits all" treatment
Movement assessment, exercise coaching, behavior modification, and education from the comfort of your home.
Pelvic floor assessment, prolapse assessment, intra abdominal pressure management assessment, functional movement assessment, balance assessment, diastasis recti assessment, lifting mechanics and posture assessment, range of motion and joint testing, manual muscle testing and so much more.
Labor preparation, Cupping, Kinesio taping, soft tissue mobilization, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization/manipulation, gastrointestinal/abdominal massage, stretching, strengthening, breathing techniques, downtraining, guided imagery, coordination of movement, postpartum precautions and lifting mechanics, c-section recovery, return to activity.
If your goal is regular activity, I will help you get there safely while respecting recovery and healing. As a client you will have access to a large gym during treatment sessions and for a short period of time upon discharge.
The sooner you are evaluated, the sooner you will get on the road to recovery. There are many ways to examine someone in a way to encourage feeling comfortable and open to addressing symptoms/impairments. A pelvic floor visit is appropriate prior to the 6 week visit check up as an internal examination is not the only way to assess or treat the pelvic floor symptoms/dysfunction or other issues stemming from pregnancy/labor/delivery.
A pelvic floor physical therapy examination really examines the entire body. Looking at how you move in general, joint motion, if there are any deficits in strength or ability to stabilize your body, breathing mechanics, coordination of the pelvic floor for personal hygiene, and how your soft tissue move paying close attention to scar tissue.
The internal portion of the exam is not absolutely necessary but it can give more information about pelvic floor strength, endurance, and ability to lengthen, what areas are reproducing your symptoms, areas of pain, and areas of increased muscle tone. This is a very vulnerable examination and I want to build your trust in me and I want you to feel comfortable. This is always only performed after verbal and written consent is obtained, and is not absolutely required on the first visit or any visit.
